I2C light sensor that outputs lux directly, no calibration. For lighting and displays.
The BH1750 solves an annoying problem: instead of an analogue LDR you must calibrate, it outputs ready-to-use digital lux. Its response approximates the human eye, ideal for tuning lighting or display brightness.
It's cheap, ultra-low power and trivial over I2C. For colour or spectrum you'd need sensors like the TSL2591 or AS7341, but for 'how much light is there' the BH1750 is plenty.
Pros
- Direct lux output, no calibration
- Ultra-low power
- Response close to the human eye
Cons
- No colour or spectrum sensing
- Limited resolution in extreme low light
