How to connect N3uron to Cloud Studio IoT

N3uron runs inside the plant, on a PC or an industrial gateway. It reads the PLCs and the meters over Modbus or OPC UA and republishes those values as MQTT. Cloud Studio IoT picks up that traffic and turns it into dashboards, alarms and reports anyone can open in a browser. We run this combination at CALSA, where two plants feed the same platform and nothing on the control side had to be reprogrammed.

How to connect it

  1. 1

    Install it in the plant

N3uron goes on a PC or gateway with access to the control network. It stays inside; only the MQTT traffic leaves the building.

  2. 2

    Read the field

Configure the Modbus or OPC UA drivers and choose the tags worth sending: production counters, energy meters, machine states.

  3. 3

    Create the MQTT credentials

In Gear Manager, under Security > MQTT Configuration, create the user and password that N3uron will use.

  4. 4

    Publish to your instance

Point the N3uron MQTT module at your instance's server over TLS on port 8883 and publish each tag to {MQTTUserID}/uplink/{DeviceAddress}.

  5. 5

    Register the devices

Create each machine or meter in Cloud Studio IoT, map its variables and build the dashboard on top.

What you get

  • Legacy PLCs on the platform without replacing hardware
  • Several plants side by side, which is the whole point of centralising
  • Alarms per machine, per meter and per line, with the notification going to whoever should act
